Catalina
IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order
Deadline for Spring 2023 Orders is September 30th/2022.
A grafting request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
Orders will be grafted later this year, and should be ready in the Spring or Summer /2023.
All the requests made after September 30th 2022 will be grafted this late spring, and it wouldn’t be ready until Fall, maybe October or November 2023

Catalina is perhaps the most recognized avocado from Cuba, where it is still very commonly grown. It is a pure-West Indian type avocado with superb rich flavor and is one of our favorite West Indians and overall avocados to eat.
The fruit are medium-to-large in size, oval-shaped with yellow flesh containing a medium-sized seed. Catalina?s production in Florida is historically considered inadequate for commercial production but we?ve had good experiences with it being grown both in Loxahatchee and West Palm Beach, and at a minimum it makes a nice yard tree.
The foliage is somewhat distinctive in that Catalina?s leaves are much rounder-shaped than most avocados.
They produce A-type flowers and the fruit normally matures from August through September, sometimes hanging into October.
