IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order

We are only able to graft twice a year, Late Spring & Late Summer.
  • If we receive the order between after September 24th  and before May 1st, The trees will be grafted in Spring & should be ready by the end of the year.
  • For orders made after May 01st  and before of September 24th  will be grafted in late Summer and should be ready in the Spring following year, May most likely.

Preorder: Graft Me a 1 Gallon Tree is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock.
We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow.
Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
(Estimated time is 6 to 8 months. Some varieties take longer time to growth)

Ewais is from Egypt, originating in the area near the Suez Canal and was named after an Egyptian minister. It is a small, ovate-shaped yellow fruit with a fiberless flesh and exceptionally sweet flavor that surprises those who have never tried it. The fruit are very prone to post-harvest anthracnose, but resistant to bacterial spot.  The seed is very thin and small, and polyembryoic.

The tree is non-precocious, and takes a while to start producing. It has a medium vigor, upright growth habit with dense canopy and may struggle to flower some years in the climate of south Florida. When it does flower though it sets a lot of fruit and makes very nice crops.

Ewais is a mid-season cultivar and ripens mostly in July here. We feel this variety might perform well in southern California due to its lack of precocity and growth habit.

Flavor: Egyptian/Indochinese
