Hialeah Red
This avocado was selected in the Hialeah area of Miami, FL and has a unique appearance; it is round like a cannonball and turns a dark red color at maturity.
The fruit will turn red on the counter even if its harvested completely green mature.
It appears to be a West Indian-type, with a yellow, mild flavored flesh, and small-to-medium sized seed.
Hialeah Red usually ripens August through September. As this variety is still relatively new to south Florida, we are still evaluating its performance.
