Arka Neelkiran
IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order
We are only able to graft twice a year, Late Spring & Late Summer.
- If we receive the order between after September 24th and before May 1st, The trees will be grafted in Spring & should be ready by the end of the year.
- For orders made after May 01st and before of September 24th will be grafted in late Summer and should be ready in the Spring following year, May most likely.
Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
(Estimated time is 6 to 8 months. Some varieties take longer time to growth)
This mango came from India's national breeding program, and it's a cross between Neelum and Alphonso. It is a medium sized yellow, round-to-elliptically shaped fruit and has proven to be a very slow-growing dwarf tree.
The fruit have a highly delicious Indian/Alphonso class flavor, with a slight amount of resin and good levels of sweetness and spice. The flesh is yellow, with minimal fiber and good firmness. It contains a monoembryonic seed. It has not displayed the internal physiological issues that its parent Alphonso sometimes has.
We planted ours in 2016 and it has grown slowly thus far, to such a degree that We would very much classify Arka Neelkiran as a dwarf tree with open canopy. It fruited in 2019 and has fruited every year since. It is a mid-season mango maturing from late-June into July. While we have been very happy with it, we suspect this variety may prove too fungus-prone on its bloom and small developing fruits if it is grown in more humid areas of Florida, and we do not consider it a good candidate for growing in California.
