Bizcochuelo
IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order
Deadline for Fall 2023 Orders is May 01st/2023.
Orders will be grafted this Spring, and should be ready in the Fall/2023.
A grafting request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

This mango is from Cuba, commonly grown in the area around Santiago de Cuba.
It received some attention from being promoted by Fairchild Garden in 2016 when the theme of their mango festival was 'Mangos of Cuba'. Difficult to find in Florida, we planted a tree in 2017 for evaluation. It fruited for the first time in 2019 and has fruited every year since.
The fruit is smal, roundly shaped and yellow at maturity. The flesh is yellow, with a modest amount of fiber and a flavor somewhat similar to a very mild Pickering mango.
We have found Bizcochuelo to be highly prone to anthracnose even in our coastal zone and do not recommend it for interior or high humid areas. The tree is a moderately vigorous grower with vertical, dense canopy. It is an early season mango ripening from late May to early July here.
