IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order

Spring Grafted Trees should be ready the following Fall. Deadline is May 01

Late Summer & Fall Grafted Trees should be ready the following Spring. Deadline is October 01

A Pre-Order Grafting Request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

This mango was selected in Bokeelia, FL on Pine Island and was likely a Haden seedling. Research has indicated the correct spelling of the family's name was  actually "Coggeshall". It received a small amount of attention in the 1940s but wasn't viewed as having commercial potential, so largely remained in the mango collections of Dade county and un-propagated. Carl and Richard Campbell took a liking to the fruit however, and Richard began promoting it in the 1990s through Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden as an excellent tree for home growers due to its compact growth habit, steady production and good eating traits.

The fruit are oval-oblong, medium sized, developing beautiful red blush with yellow background color. The flesh is very soft, fiberless and The flavor is in the classic group, stonefruit-esque and moderately sweet. It can go overripe quickly so should be consumed as soon as its ripe. It also has edible skin. The seed is monoembryonic and freestone.

While the trees are very manageable, the flowers and fruit are prone to anthracnose when grown in the deep interior. The flowers can be powdery mildew prone as well.

Cogshall has been a very steady producer for us over the years. It is an early season mango and matures from May through June for us. It also appears resistant to bacterial spot and rot. This makes it a nice choice for those in the coastal zone looking for an early season classically flavored mango superior in flavor and growth habit to Haden and Glenn.
