This mango is from the breeding program of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, FL and was a seedling of Zill-80 (planting # DW-10). It was named after Marlys Zill, sister of Gary and daughter of Laurence Zill. It was later re-named 'All Summer', a reference to its extended season.
The fruit are large, round shaped, medium-sized and red-skin colored similarly to Haden, with yellow fiberless flesh. It has a classic Florida mango flavor that we find similar to Kent, with notes of stone fruit. They average 1.5-2 pounds in weight. The seed is monoembryonic.
The tree has a spreading and moderately vigorous growth habit. It sets fruit well and has born good crops in recent years. It ripens mid-season here, primarily in July. We are still evaluating 'Marlys' for its resistance to bacterial spot and rot, though it seems at least somewhat prone.
Flavor: Classic
Country: Florida - USA
