IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order

Spring Grafted Trees should be ready the following Fall. Deadline is May 01

Late Summer & Fall Grafted Trees should be ready the following Spring. Deadline is October 01

A Pre-Order Grafting Request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

Banganapalli is from southern India, where it is grown in a number of different states, and depending on the locale goes under several other names: 'Baneshan' (not to be confused with 'Alampur Baneshan') and 'Safeda' among them. It is one of the most prized mangos in Andhra Pradesh, where it is thought to have originated, Telengana and Tamil Nadu.

The fruit are kidney-shaped, medium sized, and turn yellow as they ripen. They are *very* aromatic mangos, and can fill a room with their powerful fragrance as they ripen. The flesh is fiberless and sweet with a medium bodied Indian-Alphonso type flavor abundant in spice characteristics. The seed is monoembryonic.

Unfortunately there have been many fake Banganapalli trees in the Florida nursery trade. Luckily we have had access to a verified tree from which we obtained our budwood. Like other south Indian mangos the variety seems to flower very easily in south Florida and seems to perform acceptably near the coast, although it is very prone to powdery mildew. The growth habit is moderately vigorous with spreading, open canopy with flat leaves and rather thin stems. Like other southern Indian mangos, it can produce excessive numbers of male flowers when it blooms early. Later opening blooms are mire likely to result in fruit set.

Banganapalli is an early season mango here ripening primarily from late May through June.
