IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order

Deadline for Fall 2023 Orders is May 01st/2023.

Orders will be grafted this Spring, and should be ready in the Fall/2023.

A grafting request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

Bailey's Marvel is a Haden-seedling from Bokeelia, FL named after the Bailey brothers who once grew mangos on Pine Island. The original tree still stands there to this day!

Pedigree analysis has indicated that its pollinating parent may have been 'Bombay', to which it does have a similar fruit shape and foliage. Bailey's Marvel trees are very vigorous growers with spreading dense canopies. They tend to produce well near the coast, but encounter fungus problems deeper into the interior. It does appear to be resistant to mango bacterial black spot diease, however.

The fruit are medium-to-large sized, typically over a pound, with a round shape. They have beautiful orange-red color when sun exposed.

The eating quality is superb, and though its classic-group flavor is often compared to Haden, the flesh is fiber-free and definitely sweeter than its parent, with slightly more complexity. The seed is monoembryonic.

Bailey's Marvel is an early-to-midseason mango for us with an extended window, usually ripening between May and July. Its greatest drawback is its short shelf-life, limiting its commercial potential, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming one of the more popular varieties we grow.
