We are only able to graft twice a year, Late Spring & Late Summer.
- If we receive the order between after September 24th and before May 1st, The trees will be grafted in Spring & should be ready by the end of the year.
- For orders made after May 01st and before of September 24th will be grafted in late Summer and should be ready in the Spring following year, May most likely.
Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
(Estimated time is 6 to 8 months. Some varieties take longer time to growth)
C-17 is a seedling of 'Zill-80' from Gary Zill's breeding program in Boynton Beach, FL. 'Gary' may have been its pollinating parent.
Like other 'Zill-80' progeny we are evaluating it among potential mid-to-late season alternatives to older disease-prone cultivars.
The tree finally fruited for us in 2022 about 4 years after grafting. It has struggled with micronutirent deficiency to some extent. It has a vigorous, open canopy. The fruit are large in size, roundly shaped and have a light yellow fiberless flesh. The flavor is a rich, classic subacid type. It appears to be a late season mango.
The fruit had some physiological issues initially but C-17 requires further evaluation at this stage.
Flavor: Classic-acidic
Country: Florida - USA
