We are only able to graft twice a year, Late Spring & Late Summer.
- If we receive the order between after September 24th and before May 1st, The trees will be grafted in Spring & should be ready by the end of the year.
- For orders made after May 01st and before of September 24th will be grafted in late Summer and should be ready in the Spring following year, May most likely.
Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
(Estimated time is 6 to 8 months. Some varieties take longer time to growth)
P-22 was a Gary seedling, and likely a hybrid between Gary and Zill Indochinese (Zinc) , from the breeding project of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, FL. The original tree is a good producer and flavor has proven popular, The fruit has a round/ovate shape with a light colored flesh whose flavor belongs to the Indochinese hybrid category; it tastes very similar to Zinc.
We acquired P-22 in 2018 and it began fruiting in 2021. The fruit's flavor has been extremely impressive, one of the finest flavored of the newer Indochinese hybrids. Unfortunately it can develop physiological problems, with fissures in the skin commonplace and uneven ripening as well.
P-22 is moderately vigorous and has a vertical growth habit with open canopy. It is a mid-season mango maturing largely in July for us most years.
Flavor: - Indochinese
Country: Florida-USA
