This mango is from Thailand, and commonly consumed green.
The fruit is large, sigmoid shaped, mostly yellow but obtaining some pinkish blush. The flesh is yellow, fiberless, with a sweet Thai-type flavor.
We obtained a small 'Hong Sa' tree in 2018. It produced its first fruit in 2021. The tree produces very thick stems and large leaves, with a compact dense canopy reminiscent of Nam Doc Mai #4.
Hong Sa is a later-mid season mango, ripening primarily in July. The fruit appear to be fairly susceptible to mango bacterial black spot disease and associated rots, and also have been prone to stem-end rot.
