This mango is from Andhra Pradesh, India where it is grown on some commercial scale. It is sometimes spelled "Pedda Rasalu". It is medium-to-large in size, oblong shaped with a hooked nose, turning light yellow but sometimes tending to stay green at maturity. They are commonly used as juice mangos in south India.
The flesh is moderately fibrous but very juicy and rich in flavor, spicy with resin as is typical of Indian/West Indian types.
We obtained several young grafted Pedda Rasam trees in 2018 and planted one in the field for observation. The tree had its first crop in 2022. It appears to be a mid-season mango here in south Florida.
Flavor: Indian/West Indian
Country: India
