IMPORTANT READ BEFORE Make your Grafting Request Order

Deadline for Spring 2023 Orders is September 30th/2022.

A grafting request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

Orders will be grafted later this year, and should be ready in the Spring or Summer /2023.

All the requests made after September 30th 2022 will be grafted this late spring, and it wouldn’t be ready until Fall, maybe October or November 2023

Russell is a pure West Indian type and one of the oldest varieties in Florida.

The original tree was planted in 1880 from a seed brought from Cuba, on the property of John Russell in Islemorada, Florida.

It was later killed in the 1935 Hurricane but not before Budwood was taken earlier that same year and top-worked to a tree in Homestead. Whereafter, ?Russell? became a somewhat common nursery tree for backyard growers.

Its shape is rather distinctive, pyriform with a characteristically very long neck. The skin is green and flesh yellow, with a mild flavor and containing a small seed.

Russell trees produce A-type flowers, bear well and typically mature their fruit from August to September.
