Preorder: Graft Me a 1 Gallon Tree is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock.
We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow.Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.
(Estimated time is 6 to 8 months. Some varieties take longer time to growth)
This mango is thought to be a seedling of Zill-80. It grows on the former property of Laurence Zill in Lantana, FL., later owned by Cecil Brumfield.
The tree is a good producer of medium-to-large sized, round shaped fruit that turn a brilliant "fire engine"-red color. It is truly one of the most eye-catching mangos that we grow. The flavor is very good and belongs to the classic group, sweet with nice acid component to balance it, with the flesh containing a monoembryonic seed. They mature mid-season largely in July.
We planted Crimson Delight in 2017. The tree flowered and set fruit in 2019 and 2020 but ultimately didn't hold onto any fruit to maturity. It finally fruited in 2021 fairly well and has been flowering consistently enough that we think it will be a regular producer long term, though there are only a couple fruiting examples of it in existence.
The tree is moderately vigorous and has a vertical-open canopy. It has displayed good anthracnose resistance but is at least moderately susceptible to bacterial black spot.
Flavor: Classic
Country: Florida-USA
