Malama is a Guatemalan type avocado that was developed by the University of Hawaii and selected in 1981.
It is considered a very high quality fruit in its native state with a rich nutty flavor.
The fruit reportedly turn purple and are pyriform shaped. Our Malama has tried to flower but has grown very slowly so it may be a few more years before its able to fruit.
The tree produces B type flowers and is a Fall season fruit in Hawaii.
